The Uquay Stephens Armed Forces Scholarship
The Armed Forces Scholarship honors 1983 graduate, Uquay Stephens. Uquay is a combat veteran and proud Marine who attributes much of her personal success to her military training.
To help the next generation of warriors, she has established this scholarship for two students (1 male and 1 female) who are seeking to join one of the branches of the Armed Forces and commit to a life of service.
Scholarship criteria:
- Must be a Proviso East High School.graduating senior.
- 2.0 grade point average.
- A written essay of 300 words or less describing your personal goals and career plans. Include how this scholarship will help you attain these goals.
- Two (2) letters of recommendation:
- --One letter from your recruiter, which includes your ship off date for basic training
- --One letter from a veteran or service member currently serving.
5. Enlist for a minimum of three (3) years of active duty in the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, or Navy. Or enlist six (6) years in the National Guard or Reserves.
6. Must leave for training within six (6) months of graduation.

All applicants will be notified by August 15, 2024 of their status. Payment to scholarship winner will be disbursed during Proviso East's Homecoming weekend (TBA).
