The Three Titans of the Gospel Scholarship provides $1,000 award to a deserving scholar preparing for higher education.
Rev. Marvin E. Wiley commemorates a total of more than 150 years of ministry. This impressive legacy was held by his grandfather, Rev. Williard Wiley pastor of The 8th Ave Baptist Church - Pine Bluff, AR. Grandfather Williard’s church served as the home church where Rev. Marvin E. Wiley was raised and began his preaching journey. His sermon, “Contrary Winds” was well-known among his parishioners. Rev. Marvin’s preaching legacy continued through his grandfather, Rev. William Ross pastor of St. Luke Baptist Church - North Little Rock, AR. started his ministry journey in the 1960's. He brought to fruition an extension of the church called the Educational Annex. This building has been named in his honor for his remarkable contribution.
Reverend Marvin E. Wiley is a native of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and is pastor of Rock of Ages Baptist Church, located in Maywood, Illinois. Under his dynamic leadership, the church's ministries are organized for service through utilizing these five cornerstones:
-Exaltation
-Edification
-Evangelism
-Extension
-Equipping
Pastor Wiley also extends his ministry outside of the church building through providing community service, business, and education. As a strongly committed proponent of education, Pastor Wiley is a 1978 graduate of Pine Bluff High School, The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and Dallas Baptist College. His dynamic mission to teach and preach has carried him across the country for leadership, stewardship, and evangelistic service. This mission is shared with his daughter, Madilyn Wiley, through her service as a educational and philanthropic leader within the Maywood community and abroad.
Scholarship Criteria:
1. Must be a Proviso East High School Graduating Senior.
2. Completion of a written summary of a recent community service/volunteer effort- 250 words.
3. Submission of official high school transcript.
4. Cumulative 3.0 or higher GPA in final semester/quarter.
5. Two letters of recommendations
6. Plans to attend a four (4) year college or university to complete college coursework in the fields of: education (including early childhood, elementary education, secondary education, and special education), theology, counseling, social work, sociology, or psychology.
